I knew I would be writing a blog post today, but I didn’t know it would be about this. The LEGENDARY Ms. Beatrice Arthur that we all know and love from Maude and The Golden Girls has passed on. She was 86. Apparently she had cancer, which to my knowledge wasn’t reported before.
I had recently been on a Bea kick of sorts. I had been watching Maude episodes, on DVD and on YouTube. I had been thinking about writing to her, just to let her know I appreciate her before she really did die. I knew she was up in her 80′s and let’s be realistic, the chances of her being around a few more years were slim. I put off the letter, and now I feel nothing but regret. But that will disappear.
The works and impact of Bea Arthur WON’T. Maybe now they will release the rest of Maude on DVD, as I would love to have it in my collection. I bought the first season of Maude the same day it came out a few years ago, I think it was in the month of February. Check out a brilliant performance of Bea, as Maude, HERE.
Here’s to Bea, May 13, 1922 -- April 25, 2009. We love you, honaye. And thank you for being a friend.
